If western novelist Larry McMurtry were to spawn a hipster musician love-child, he would be Ben Schneider, founder of Lord Huron. The most fitting description of this band is Hipster Cowboy American Folk. Lord Huron is highly unusual but wonderfully spellbinding. My sons introduced me to them, and I haven't been able to get the songs out of my head. Don't think "radio pop" as much as "Walking Dead soundtrack" if the Walking Dead had been made in 1963 with its own story to tell. Their latest album, Strange Trails, has themes of unrequited love, murder, vengeance, mystery and longing. Ethereal, mysterious, surprisingly catchy, I'm longing for more releases in the future.
